Join leaders from energy-related centers and departments from universities and colleges throughout the United States as a CEREL member of the National Council for Science and the Environment (NCSE), and gain access to valuable networks, resources, and meetings.
WHO ARE WE?
CEREL consists of leaders of college and university-based energy centers and programs. Membership reflects the full range of people, programs, institutions, and perspectives that comprise the academic energy field. This includes public and private institutions of every size and academic orientation and an equitable distribution of effort on education, research, and communication issues.
A university or college can have multiple institutional members that represent the range of its energy-related educational, research, and outreach activities. Each relevant department, center, institute, and program can have a single representative who is appointed by an institutional administrator. A separate membership fee is required for each institutional unit. Annual membership dues are broken down as follows:
Professional societies and other associations may become collaborating members. Businesses, foundations and other institutions may become sponsoring members.The Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) is a collaborating partner in CEREL and will assist us with government relations and other services.
BENEFITS AND SERVICES
Opportunities to develop new relationships and peer networks for discussing common challenges and opportunities, exchanging information and strategies, and forming alliances and partnerships
Access to a directory of programs in energy research, education, and outreach at institutions of higher education
Enhanced ability to recruit graduate students, post-docs and new faculty in energy fields
Access to information on employment and internship possibilities for undergraduate and graduate students, professional development opportunities (conferences, workshops, job openings, etc.), and funding opportunities for research, education, and communication
Participation in identifying essential knowledge and competencies in the energy field, and help bringing curricula in line with society’s needs
Information regarding current and pending federal energy-related policy, and the opportunity to elevate the importance of energy in the federal budget-making process
Access to multiple databases with information on energy management best practices at institutions of higher education, individuals who are willing to be external reviewers for energy programs, and energy courses, curricula, degrees and other educational material related to energy [in development]
