NEW EXHIBITOR

The Rolling Rainforest
Discovery Creek Children's Museum

The Rolling Rainforest will be on display in the plaza of the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center on January 30.  Please make sure to stop by and see it!

The Rolling Rainforest is a one-of-a-kind completely mobile immersion exhibit housed in a 48-foot trailer that authentically recreates the sights, sounds and smells of a tropical rainforest.  The exhibit is a new and innovative way to enliven science, social studies and arts curricula, and engage students in an adventure they won't soon forget.  Where else would children learn how monkey's make chocolate?

As part of the program, students take on the roles of conservation scientists participating in an expedition to the rainforest.  They are broken into small teams representing four areas of science:  icthyology, entomology, soil science, and water quality.  Each team is given a "mystery" or problem to solve using data they collect in the exhibit and additional evidence they examine in the classroom and the schoolyard.  The scientific investigation will enable students to suggest possible solutions to the problems they have identified both in the rainforest ecosystem and within their own schoolyard.

Please visit the Discovery Creek Rolling Rainforest website for a virtual tour of the exhibit!
